The destruction of the Galaxy Fold by iFixit shows the biggest design flaw

Although technically this is not the first time we see the insides of the currently deferred Samsung Galaxy Fold, the analysis of the iFixit folding device is absolutely the most informed and detailed of all that we have seen. Following the publication of our reasoning about the possible causes of various screen breaks that we observed in the review blocks, an analysis of the dismantling of iFixit, apparently, revealed a fundamental design compromise that Samsung had to do - the one that could doom the phone.

It seems that Samsung has concentrated on the hinge mechanics to be a reliable and reliable mechanism for folding and unfolding the screen. However, for any reason, the Galaxy Fold does not have sufficient protection against debris. And since this screen is so delicate (like any OLED, if it is not protected by something like Gorilla Glass), this represented a significant risk.

It was a risk that did not pay off, since at least three different control units formed bulges under their hinge screens. Our unit demonstrated the problem, as well as the device that was transmitted to Blik, as well as the device that was transmitted to Michael Fisher. One of these bulges - the one in our review - eventually damaged the screen.
